David Ramirez To Tour New Album ‘We’re Not Going Anywhere ‘ January 2018

Screenshot 2018-12-07 at 16.17.02

David Ramirez’s new album We’re Not Going Anywhere is out this week via Thirty Tigers. It follows Ramirez’s 2015 album â€˜Fables’, described by Q as â€˜caked with the grit and dust of an entire lifetime’
Produced by Sam Kassirer, the album finds Ramirez painting a vividly imagined picture of contemporary America through the songwriter’s own perspective of having dual American and Mexican heritage.

“Beautiful”  â€“ Independent

“Politics seldom sound this heartfelt and honest” **** â€“ Q

“If Springsteen made a record about living in Trump’s America, you’d hope it might sound something like ‘We’re Not Going Anywhere’”  – Uncut

“An acute observer of the fractured state of the nation, its lost souls and lost ideals” â€“ FRUK

“A touching tribute to one of the most tragic events of the 21st century” â€“ The Line Of Best Fit

“Its tender lyricism leaves a lingering impression long after those final notes have faded” – Clash

For the first time, Ramirez â€“ who has always co-produced or self-produced â€“ hired a producer in the form of Sam Kassirer (previously helmed Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Bhi Bhiman) to help evolve and change the recording process. In January 2017 Ramirez and his band decamped to the Great North Sound Society, an eighteenth-century farmhouse in rural Maine that serves as Kassirer’s studio. â€œIt’s very secluded, which was part of the appeal. We were able to get out of our touring headspace and stay completely involved with the record and what we were doing. That allowed the band to concentrate on the music, to pursue ideas without distractions and misgivings, but it also removed them from the world during a momentous event.”

We’re Not Going Anywhere marks a departure for Ramirez who builds on the rootsy sound of his early albums to create something new, bold and anchored in the present in both music and lyrics taking influence from the sounds of his childhood, the likes of The Cars and Journey. â€œWe’re Not Going Anywhere” – these are four simple words informed and driven by Ramirez’s own background which identifies a record of promise and protest at a time of socio-political agitation, â€œso many cultures in this country are being viewed as un-American and it breaks my heart. My family has raised children here, created successful businesses here, and are proud to be a part of this country. Most of what I’ve seen as of late is misplaced fear. I wanted to write about that fear and how, instead of benefiting us, it sends us spiralling out of control.”

Thirty Tigers New Releases

” Isbell’s prolific run of quantity and quality continues ” – Uncut (9/10)

” He couches his anxieties in simple but poetic language as his band find the right spot between county and rock ” – Mojo (4 stars)

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, guitarist Jason Isbell and his mighty band, The 400 Unit, have announced the June 16th release of the highly anticipated new album, The Nashville Sound (Southeastern Records/Thirty Tigers). The Nashville Sound is the follow up to 2015’s critically acclaimed Something More Than Free, which won two Grammy Awards (Best Americana Album & Best American Roots Song, “24 Frames”) and two Americana Music Association Awards (Album of the Year & Song of The Year, “24 Frames”). See Highlights.

Without exaggeration, Jason Isbell has become one the most respected and celebrated songwriters of his generation. He possesses an incredible penchant for identifying and articulating some of the deepest, yet simplest, human emotions, and turning them into beautiful poetry through song. “There’s no better songwriter on the planet at this moment, no one operating with the same depth, eloquence or feeling,” says American Songwriter Magazine. Isbell sings of the every day human condition with thoughtful, heartfelt, and sometimes brutal honesty, and the new album is no exception.

The Nashville Sound features 10 new songs that address a range of real life subject matters that include politics and cultural privilege (“White Man’s World”), longing nostalgia (“The Last Of My Kind”), love and mortality (“If We Were Vampires”), the toxic effect of today’s pressures (“Anxiety”), the remnants of a break up (“Chaos and Clothes”) and finding hope (“Something To Love”). Songs such as “Cumberland Gap” and “Hope The Highroad” find Isbell and his bandmates going back to their rock roots full force.

The Nashville Sound was recorded at Nashville’s legendary RCA Studio A and produced by Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb, who produced Something More Than Free and Isbell’s celebrated 2013 breakthrough album Southeastern. The Nashville Sound is the first official Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit album since 2011’s Here We Rest. The 400 Unit features Derry deBorja (keyboards), Chad Gamble (drums), Jimbo Hart (bass), Amanda Shires (fiddle) and Sadler Vaden (guitar).

Jason Isbell’s music speaks to so many who often feel as though his songs were written specifically for them. Isbell’s lyrics and sincere delivery cut to the core and make genuine, lasting connections. The Nashville Sound helps to remind us how music continues to unite and connect us all. It is a comforting thought at time when understanding, compassion and honesty seem to be an afterthought.

Delta Spirit frontman, Matthew Logan Vasquez and band will be appearing in the UK on  an 8 date headline tour with special guest David Ramirez, taking in The Old Blue Last in London on Wednesday 12th July.  Ahead of the UK, MLV also plays four dates in the Netherlands, supporting both Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Old Crow Medicine Show.  MLV brings with him a 3 piece band made up with musicians Brendan Bond and Judson Johnson, fresh off tour in the US, showcasing a unique brand of rowdy, Waits influenced Americana.

The tour announcement follows the release of MLV’s debut solo album ‘Does What He Wants’. Vasquez knows how to fuse passion with poetry in his writing and then ignite the combination with his staggeringly expressive vocals. Will Hoge Presents His New Album ‘ Anchors ‘

Screenshot 2018-12-07 at 15.53.57

“I hit a wall,” says Will Hoge. “I was doing the best touring of my career and I had a great, steady gig writing songs, but I was falling out of love with being in a band. I had to figure out what was next.”

For Hoge, what came next was a quest to reclaim the joy and the magic that had drawn him to music in the first place. He let his band go and hit the road for roughly a year of solo shows, crisscrossing the country by himself with just a guitar and a keyboard. He felt rejuvenated by the freedom and began writing material that reenergized him, that made him feel like a kid falling in love with rock and roll all over again. Those songs ignited a dormant flame somewhere deep within his soul, and now they form the bulk of Anchors, his strongest and most nuanced album to date.

Recorded with an all-star band comprised of drummer Jerry Roe (Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, Darius Rucker), bassist Dominic Davis (Jack White, Wanda Jackson), and guitarists Brad Rice (Son Volt, Ryan Adams) and Thom Donovan (Lapush, Ruby Amanfu), the album is a prime showcase for Hoge’s soaring, gritty vocals, as well as his remarkable gift for crafting complex characters with real emotional depth and plainspoken profundity. Over the course of eleven tracks (including one with special guest Sheryl Crow), Hoge weaves elements of vintage country, literate folk, and heartland rock into a passionate, genre-busting masterpiece, one that offers an unflinching portrait of the messy challenges of adulthood and the ways in which we persevere (or don’t) through hard times.

Beginning with the release of his acclaimed 2001 debut, Carousel, Hoge established himself as a masterful songwriter and performer as well as a critical favorite, with Rolling Stone comparing him to Bob Seger and John Mellencamp and NPR praising his “sharp, smart, passionate rock ‘n’ roll that seems to exist out of time.” He built up a loyal fanbase the old fashioned way, maintaining a steady studio output and a relentless touring schedule of more than 200 shows a year, including bills with the likes of My Morning Jacket, the Black Crowes, and Drive-By Truckers, in addition to festival slots from Bonnaroo to Austin City Limits. In 2012, the Eli Young Band hit #1 on the Billboard Country chart with their Platinum-selling recording of Hoge’s song “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” earning Hoge nominations for CMA, ACM, and GRAMMY Awards. Soon he was performing everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to The Late Show with David Letterman, his music was soundtracking a high-profile Chevy truck campaign, and he’d signed a major publishing deal.

When the inspiration ran dry, though, Hoge took a gamble on himself and walked away from it all in order to pursue the kind of art that truly moved him, to make something that mattered. If Anchors is any indication, it was a safe bet indeed.

Following the explosive UK come back tour in 2015  Will Hoge will be Introducing ‘Anchors’ on a special UK solo run following a Spanish Festival:

The tour announcement follows the release of MLV’s debut solo album ‘Does What He Wants’.
